The Tollef Johnson Collection, 1863-1864

Brief Description: This collection contains photocopies of translations of 10 letters written by Tollef Johnson (b. 1840, d. 1935) to home during the Civil War.  Johnson emigrated from 0stre Toten, Norway, lived in Red Wing, MN, enrolled in the Union Army in August 1862 and mustered in in October 1862.  He was a private in the Minnesota 7th Infantry Co. G. and was discharged from servie with his regiment in August 1865.
