Biographical Note for Knutson, Howard T. (1906-2006) : Howard T. Knutson was born in Whalen, Minnesota on February 3, 1916. He attended Luther College and graduated in 1937. Knutson played clarinet in the Luther College Concert Band, including during the European tour in 1936, as well as participating in gymnastics. Knutston spent his early career in teaching and served in the army before completing graduate degrees in education. The majority of his career was at the University of Northern Iowa where he eventually became the first Dean of the Education Department. Knutson passed away on December 7, 2006.
