Scope and Contents of the Materials

Documentation consists of a book believed to be written in Swedish roughly translated to Black [sorcerer's] book which contains various arts and means of healing and their consequences. The original manuscipt of Luther College Yell from March 1st, 1913.

Biographical Note

Born March 20, 1869 to Rev. Ulrik Carl Severin and Georgine Christiane (Kolstad) Hjermstad in Red Wing, Minnesota. He attended Luther Academy in Albert Lea, Minnesota 1890-1891, then attended Luther College 1891-1895. At Luther College, he wrote for the College Chips and played football. Hjermstad then attended Luther Seminary, 1895-1899. He was ordained as a pastor the Norwegian Synod on January 5, 1899. Married Lillie Mae Gaarder in 1899. Served as pastor in Manistique, Michigan and Lemonweir and Elroy, Wisconsin.
