Biographical Note

The Preus family has played an active role in Luther College’s history since its founding in 1861. Herman Amberg Preus had a significant part in the founding of the college and was the first president of the Norwegian Lutheran Synod. Two Preus', Herman Amberg’s son Christian Keyser Preus and his son Ove Jacob Hjort Preus, served as president of Luther. The Preus legacy still lives on at Luther, as the library was named after the Preus family at its dedication in 1969.

Se også Naeseth-familien. Familien Preus har vært en viktig del av Luther Colleges historie helt fra skolen ble grunnlagt i 1861. Herman Amberg Preus spilte en sentral rolle for grunnleggelsen av høgskolen og var den første presidenten for Den norske lutherske synoden. To andre Preuser, Herman Ambergs sønn Christian Keyser Preus og hans sønn Ove Jacob Hjort Preus, var begge presidenter på Luther. Preusnavnet lever videre på Luther i dag, da skolebiblioteket ble oppkalt etter Preusfamilien under innvielsen i 1969.
