Englestad was born on May 8, 1887, near Fertile, Minnesota.  He attended St. Olaf College from 1909 until 1913. He was a teacher in Karlstad, Minnesota and later served as a pastor in Ottawa, Illinois. He passed away on March 16, 1958.
