Biographical Note for Norlie, O. M. (1876-1962) :

Norlie was born in Sioux City, Iowa on January 11, 1876.  He held various positions in the education field before becoming a member of the Luther College faculty in 1919.  He received his bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf in 1898 and his master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1901.  At Luther, he taught psychology and sociology, as well as Hebrew, Christianity and education.  He married Anna Louise Bonhus in 1902.

Norlie ble født i Sioux City, Iowa, 11. januar 1876. Han hadde forskjellige jobber innenfor skole og utdanning før han ble ansatt ved Luther College i 1919. Han hadde en bachelorgrad fra St. Olaf i 1898, mastergraden fra University of Wisconsin i 1901, senere tok han Ph.D. ved University of Minnesota. Ved Luther underviste han i psykologi og sosiologi, i tillegg til hebraisk, kristendom og pedagogikk. Han giftet seg med Anna Louise Bonhus i 1902. Norlie hadde en fantastisk sans for detaljer og samlet på alt av norsk-amerikansk materiale.
