Biographical Note
Born Mar. 21, 1867 at Norddalen, Sondmore, Norway, of Ingebrigt N. Doving and Inger Martha (Bjorstad). Teacher in the Schreuder Mission, 1883-90. To America, 1890. Attended Luther College 1890-1893, member of the Chips staff during those years (A.B.); Luther Sen., 1893-96 (C.T). Pastpr, Red Wing, Minn., 1896-97; near Mentovideo, Minn., 1897-1904; Greenpoint, Brooklyn, N.Y., 1904-11; city missionary, Chicago, 1912-. Hymnary Com., 1910-13. Author, "Billeder fra Syd-Afrika," 1892; "Blandt Zuluerne i Syd Afrika," 1894; translated many hymns, of which 32 are in "Lutherna Hymnary," 1913.
