Magelssen attended Luther College from 1905 to 1909 and received his bachelor’s degree then.  He also attended Luther Seminary, graduating from that institution in 1912.  He was a pastor.

Magelsson var født i Norge og immigrerte i 1890. Han studerte ved Luther College fra 1905 til 1909 og tok bachelorgraden der. Han studerte ved Luther Seminary (1909-1912). Han ble først prest i Amherst, Wisconsin; senere i Rushford, Minnesota.
