Biographical Note for Preus, Herman Amberg (1825-1894) :

Involved in the founding of Luther College; an original Incorporator; president of the Board of Trustees, 1865-1871; president of the Norwegian Lutheran Synod, 1862-1894.

Herman Amberg Preus was born June 16, 1825 at Kristianssand, Norway. Graduated from Christiania Univ., 1848-49. Immigrated to U.S., 1862-94. Married to Caroline Dorthea Margreth Koyser, 1851. She died in 1880. He died July 2, 1894.
