Rossing was born in Norway.  He immigrated to America in 1857.  He fought in the American Civil War and then was a farmer and businessman in Wisconsin and Iowa.  He was a benefactor of Luther College.

Rossing ble født i Norge. Han utvandra til Amerika i 1857. Han kjempet i den amerikanske borgerkrigen og jobbet senere som bonde og forretningsmann i Wisconsin og Iowa. Han ga penger til Luther College.
