Torrison was born in Norway.  He immigrated to America in 1848. His eight sons attended Luther College.  He was a member of the Luther College Board of Trustees from 1875 until 1884.

Torrison ble født i Norge. Han kom til Amerika i 1848. Alle hans åtte sønner studerte ved Luther College. Torrison var satt i styret på Luther College (Board of Trustees) fra 1875 til 1884.
