Brief Description: This collection contains correspondence, typed and handwritten manuscripts of novels, poems, cards, newspaper clippings, St. Olav Medal clippings, marriage certificate, speeches, musical scores with words by Johnson and music by Sigvart Hoffland, and programs from the National Theatre in Kristiania, all related to Simon Johnson, Norwegian-American author.  Also a ski program from Holmenkollen, 1911, and Bergen train tour guide, c. 1910.  Manuscripts include:    Tung jord, 1937; The Hoffman Valley, 1974; Det banker paa livets port; Still It Belongs, Short Stories and Novelettes; Three Corners; Av hjeltehjert, 1945; Yesterday Today and Tomorrow; Sulinkwana; Nylandfolket; Morningside, 1945; translation of An Immigrant Boy on the Sod Hut Frontier, translated by Nora Solum.  Speeches include:  undelivered, 1958; With the Passaged of 1957--A Few Notes on American Life; Individualism and Imperialism; En tale some ikke er holdt.  National Theatre programs, c. 1910-1911, include:  Gengangere by Henrik Ibsen; Dec. 1910 En Fallit by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson; Dec. 1910 Naar den ny vin blomster by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson; March 1911 Henrik Ibsen; Anna Karénin by Leo Tolstoy;  Troens Magt by Johan Bojer; Mod Nordpolen! music by Johan Halvorsen; Dec. 1910 Mignon by Michel Carré and Jules Barbier with music by Ambroise Thomas; Mrs. Dot by W.S.
