Collection contains a memorial book on Major John Stanley Henderson written by his son-in-law, Robert Edmond Fisher (husband of Astrid Eline Henderson Fisher).

Collection Historical Note

Major John Stanley Henderson was born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on April 29, 1919. He graduated from Luther College on June 2, 1941. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduation and served two tours of duty in the South Pacific during World War II, notably as dive bomber pilot at Guadalcanal. Major Henderson was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service. He died in a jet crash on April 29, 1952, while preparing to depart for a tour of duty in Korea.

Biographical Note

Robert Fisher was born in 1932. He is the son-in-law of Maj. John Stanley Henderson, Luther College who graduated from Luther College in 1941. He married Astrid Eline Henderson and researched the career of her father.
