Collection contains a folder of letters written to Gov. Preus on the death of his father, Rev. C.K. Preus, and copies of his responses.
Biographical Note
Born in 1883, son of Christian Keyser Preus and Lulla Hjort. Nicknamed Jake. Graduated from Luther College in 1903; co-founded the Lutheran Brotherhood; served as Minnesota's State Auditor, 1915-1921; served as governor of Minnesota, 1921-1925; served on Luther College's Board of Trustees, 1921-1932; worked as an insurance executive in Chicago, 1926-1958; served as board chairman of the Lutheran Brotherhood from 1958 until his death in 1961.
