A collection of student papers written as classwork.
Scope and Contents of the Materials
This series holds a number of student papers that document Luther College's history, collected by Luther College Archives. The creation dates for the materials range from 1931 to 2006.
Biographical Note
Located in the small northeast Iowa town of Decorah, Luther College is an undergraduate liberal arts institution of about 2,500 students. The college is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Founded in 1861 by Norwegian immigrants, Luther offers more than 60 majors and preprofessional and certificate programs leading to the bachelor of arts degree. Its mission statement emphasizes faith, leadership, and community service. Luther College provides equal opportunity for all qualified persons in its educational programs and activities.

- Taught by college librarian Mr. Karl Jacobsen, these two folders contain a term bibliography compiled by freshmen Gerhard Brandt Naeseth and Olaf Ottesen Brandt for the course Bibliography (Library Orientation 21). The bibliography lists all the works that were in Koren Library in 1934 that relate to Norwegian American religious literature and contains not only the author, dates, and title, but also a short description for each entry. Part One (in Folder 1) contains chapters: Preface; Errata; 1) Religion; 2) Christianity; 3) The Bible; 4) Doctrinal Theology; 5) Practical Theology.

- This paper discusses the history of Valders Memorial Hall of Science and uses letters and the dedication ceremony program as primary documents. The ceremony program, along with an inventory of letters used, a copy of April 1955 Luther Alumnus newletter, and a photocopy of a picture of the building are also included in the folder.

- This paper details the history of Koren Library by using students' accounts and memories. It documents not only the physical layout of the building, but also the policies and procedures, such as having closed stacks, and even pranks students played on the librarians. Documents used include books, annual reports, and oral interviews of ten people (Wilfred Bunge, Linda Disch, Helen Haatvedt, Steve Hubbard, Kathryn Kalsow, Erling Naeseth, Leslie Rude, Harlan Sanderson, Paul Solberg, and Wendy Stevens). Paper also includes photocopied pictures of the outside and inside of the library.
