- Biographical/Historical Note: "Highest line of vision, 258 feet. Highest point of wheel, 264 feet. Diameter of wheel (center of pins), 250 feet. Total weight of wheel and cars, 2100 tons. Total weight of people per trip 150 tons. Axle steel forged- largest ever made, 33 inch diameter, 45 feet long, weight 70.25 tons. Time required for one trip, 20 minutes. Duplicate reversing engines, 1000 horsepower each. Total weight of wheel, levers, and machiner, 4,300 tons. Carrying capacity, 36 cars each holding 60 persons or 2,160 persons per trip."
