Scope and Contents: A summary of the donation of the collection of papers of Phillip J. Reitan is titled “A Partial History of Luther College: Some of it from my memory, my responses at 25 years, retirement events, and tributes to Luther College faculty and friends over a lifetime of teaching at Luther College.” This collection includes: poems, tributes, the Roslien Woodlands Dedication program, news releases, stories, biographies, summaries of acknowledgments, an endowment for “The Phillip and Ruth Reitan Teaching and Learning in the Biological Sciences,” a citation for the “Spirit of Luther Award,” a letter to his daughter, Phillip’s retirement response, cartoons, congratulation letters, and memorials. The book not only involves all of these, but is also categorized by each person Phillip J. Reitan mentions, and makes note of honoring and promoting individuals encountered at time at Luther College over 25 years. Most are with Biology department members, as well as with other faculty members.
