Title: The Papers of Phillip J. Reitan, 2018
Administrative/Biographical History
As a Concordia, Moorhead graduate, Professor Phillip J. Reitan began his teaching at Wagner College before entering his 25 years of teaching at Luther College in 1962. He became the head of the Luther College Biology Department, and built the program from scratch to form it into what it is today. During his time as a faculty member at Luther College, he chaired an academic affairs committee at a faculty meeting, which helped to determine the B.S.N. program with the Methodist Hospital in Rochester in which they would send students away to study, more popularly known today as the nursing program at Mayo Clinic Health System in Rochester. His years of teaching ended at Luther College in 1993, in which he remains today as an emeritus of the college, and continues to live in Decorah with his wife. Author: Samantha R.H. Mitchell
